Nursing job can truly be a very physically and mentally exhausting job because of the tasks and schedules you have to work with. Most of the time, nurse’s work shorthanded. And then there'll be times when a nurse would have to face people who direct their angers to nurses when things ran out of control.
Like everybody else, a nurse also wants happiness. Like everybody else, nurses do wants to be happy too. I bet there's no one who'll say he or she doesn’t want to be happy in his or her entire life. We envy those people who seem to be such a happy person. It's like they are so magical, so enchanting we wonder how they do that. That the amount of happiness in them makes everything works out fine.
Negative vibes and attitudes do hinder one nurse from being a happy nurse. Like shame, resentment, worrying about the future, lack of passion, lack of dreams, and more. So what could be done so that a nurse would become the 'happy nurse' that would bring happiness to the patients as well?
Below are some simple guides for nurses to be happy despite of all the workloads and shifting schedules they go through.
1. Begin the day being thankful. Don't forget to say thank you for what you have and what you'll have. Say thanks with a happy heart and a smile in your face.
2. Let your body stay busy, but not your head. As said, worries do contribute to frowns in a person's face. So don't worry too much. Handle all the problems calmly and don't forget to put on that precious smile on your face.
3. Avoid negative nurses. Asking who are the negative nurses? Well, they are those who always complain even about the simplest and tiniest things. Don't argue with them because it will only bring you feeling down and irritated too. Instead, avoid and ignore them in the most polite way a nurse would do.
4. Aim for a better future ahead. If you worry about your future all the time, wondering where you'll be and how it's gonna be, then you won't be happy. You won't and you can't be happy at all. Prepare for the future but don't worry too much. Nurses should learn to live the present. Live and enjoy. Worrying would only give nurses unpleasant emotions.
5. Be a messenger of happiness. Nurses should spread the happiness. They should be a messenger of joy and happiness. Nurses should talk and attend to their patients with a smile and happy energy in them. These would lead to multiplying the happy virus in your place.
6. Forget revenge. Move on. Nurses who have grudges in them will never be happy. If a nurse have resentment to someone, his or her heart will never be at peace. The only thing that would stay in the mind is to make revenge. To hurt others. This should not be. Nurses should forget planning revenge to someone. Instead, nurses should move on and live happy.
7. Widen your connections. Make friends with everybody. Nurses should never seclude themselves with co-nurses only. It is better to have many circle of friends, especially outside the nursing world. Nurses should surround themselves with happy people, and infect unhappy people with the genuine happiness that nurses possess inside.
Nurses shouldn't let their duties affect them too much. It is given that nurses have lots of works to do on their shifts. But it shouldn’t be a reason for nurses to forget how to smile and be happy. Inflict happiness to your patients too. And you'll be surprise how light everything would turn out to be if you, nurses, would face the day with a happy heart.
