How to Pass NCLEX

Many nurses bound for United States USA are afraid of taking the National Council Licensure EXamination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX) because aside from the fact that the application cost is pretty expensive, NCLEX is not an easy exam and quite many examiners fail to obtain a passing mark.

This is unfortunate because the NCLEX is a computer-adaptive test (CAT) of entry-level nursing competence. Passing the exam is required of candidates for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by all US state and territorial Boards of Nursing.

Difficult as it may seem, a detemined and well prepared examiner have no reasor to fear taking the NCLEX. Take note of the following guidelines to help you prepare for the exam.

Research info about the NCLEX testIt would greatly help if you know the coverage of the exam, the types of questions asked, and the procedure in taking the test. Gather information as much as you can. Be resourceful, use the internet, ask fellow nurses who have taken the NCLEX, etc. Knowing what type of exam will guide you in your review and preparation.

Attend review classes if you need to. In enrolling for a review program, find out if the course includes test-taking techniques and strategies as well as opportunities for practice tests on application-level questions.

Prepare holistically. This means that you have to make sure that on the date of the NCLEX exam, everyhting about you is ready, your mind, your body, and your spirit. You must be well–rested, your mind clear, and your emotions calm.

Establish a Study Plan. Allot a specific time everyday for studying and take it seriously. Start studying way before the exam, maybe two or three months before. In studying it will help if you are aware of the depth of your knowledge about the nursing professing so you’ll know what to focus on when reviewing Practice and review your knowledge by taking many diagnotic exams. In choosing the answer, reword or paraphrase the question.  Focus on the information needed to answer the question. Avoid guessing or relying on luck. If you have to guess, guess wisely. Use the trial and erot method in choosing the best answer. Eliminate the ones who are obviously wrong choices then decide on the remaining choices. Understand the question and recognize possible clues.

Finally, praying and thinking positive will let you pass the NCLEX with fying colors!
